A little meme-age of a different sort

From the ever-delightful [livejournal.com profile] ladysarafina:

1. Reply to this post if you want me to tell you how cool you are! I'll do my best for those of you who I don't know IRL.

2. Watch my journal over the next few days for a post just about you and why I think you are the coolest.

3. Post these instructions in your journal if you want give your friends a much needed dose of love and adoration!

Ode to Sarafina

Or, why I think you're fabulous, even without the leaves!

1. You were the very first "costume wonk" I met who was friendly, kind, and encouraging. (Well, besides Alaina, who is so near to being "family" that I don't even think about when we _met_). Your hat class at KWCS was something that I came to because nothing else at that time period was remotely interesting. And it ended up with my meeting one of the SCA people I now respect most.

2. Your generosity of time and talent. Can we tack "Royal Seamstress" onto your list of titles?

3. Your unstinting focus on encouraging folks in A&S the RIGHT way. With kind words, encouraging comments, and gentle direction in where to go next. It is, after all, due to THAT kind of encouragement that I've even TRIED to shake down the information on Dutch dress that a year ago I assumed just didn't exist.

4. Your delightful personality. Hanging out with you at events is like sitting in a little patch of sunshine which no snarkiness, politcal machinations, or silly rumor-mongering can dampen.

You are WITHOUT peer, m'dear. Even among Peers. ;-)

Neither Rain, Nor Snow, Nor Sleet...

Nor Hail, Nor Dark of Night shall stay the costumer researcher from her appointed rounds.

I have not yet heard back from the Museum in regards to the Cheese Ladies. BUT - I have found a PhD Art Historian who conducts private tours of Amsterdaam and excursions to Alkmaar - where resideth the Cheese Museum. (I really do find this too, too entertaining for words). I have enlisted his aid in locating an exhibition catalog. Or maybe I can coerce him into E-mailing photos or some such, if he's amenable to the task.

This is one of those (very rare) instances in which I suspect it is helpful to be able to hang that "Dr." on the front of my name when I make such requests. We'll just all keep quiet that it's a DVM, not a PhD in History or Art or anything remotely related. *evil chuckle*

Though y'all are overbuilding my ego on this a smidge :-). Not that I don't appreciate all the nice remarks. And all the invaluable help. I'm just not sure this little itch of mine is that worthy of it all. Masterwork? *boggle* I's just a baby researcher after all. But I hope to grow up worthy of the accolades. Tanks, guys. And I shall keep you all posted on further developments in the Hunt For the Cheese Ladies of Noord-Holland.

Which reminds me, I need to go back after my map. I think I have a few locations mis-identified, if all those ladies are from cities in the province of Noord-Holland.
