Know when to Fold 'em

We've thrown in the towel on the Chicago trip. Anneliese has just been excessively difficult lately, and that bodes ill for anybody having a good time. I really don't want her in monster mode with Mom and Dad along. I'm not sure what's gotten into her. Possibly the fact that she can't settle into a routine. School-->Summer Vacation--->Summer School with different teachers/location. She just was totally uncooperative at dance class.... but did come to John and say "I want to go home, now." Which is much more language than she normally uses.

Possibly it's the heat.

Possibly (Oh, Lord, please?) she's about to make a major leap forward (often preceded by backsliding in behavior with Anneliese), even the oft-hoped for, now despaired of "break" in language skill.

I'm pretty dragged out. I'm cringing a bit that I have taken Friday off, and therefore won't get paid. But I could use a little downtime. I've been dragged through a knothole backwards over the last two weeks.

Not sure what we WILL do this weekend. Get a few things done. Might also make a more brief road trip or some such. Suggestions?

Sometimes. (We pull the beach trick, too. We live on Lake Michigan - city beach isn't generally too crowded in the evenings).

And sometimes physical activity makes it worse.

Minor spikes in behavior I can handle. This is an extended period of just always being on the verge of a melt down. I chalk it up to being so off her routine.

I just think that, as much as she loves the aquarium and such, doing a major road trip this weekend is a Bad Idea(TM). Especially in the heat. Which makes ALL of us grumpier.

I find with time that sometimes the course of wisdom is to bend to the winds of Autism when that's an option.

I hope for quiet times this weekend for you

Thanks. *g* I hope so. She's sitting rather contentedly on the couch right now. Hopefully we can get her off to school without issues. ;-)
