The arch makes sense when you consider how unwilling a young man would be to leave his new bride and maybe not com back to her. It's a pledge from his brothers-in-arms to take care of her. The swords in the arch are held edge-up as a shield over the couple. The best man, who was in charge of the detail, tends to regard me as a bit of a third daughter in that regard. Someone to be protected, even if he almost never sees me these days.
