By three in the afternoon today, I was so tired of dumb people, I brought my receptionist a mask to protect her from what was obviously an airborne stupidity virus. *eye roll* where do these people come from? (And Darling pipes up "Stupid parents, dear.")

It is somewhat frustrating that RUM and Regional A&S are the same day. *sigh* Chalk it up to a couple of things. One, the Midrealm (Even sans Northshield) is so large that it's hard to shoehorn in all the events. As each little group insists on holding more events (and we get more little groups) the calendar gets more and more cramped. Splitting Oaken into two region makes one more Regional, and you can't schedule two on the same day. Add to that, nobody in Pentamere ever seems to think about hosting, and it's a perennial problem.

Which brings to mind the fact that there seem to be more and more incipient groups these days. Maybe it's a local thing? But I'm not sure it's entirely a good thing. Some of them don't last long. And the aforementioned effect on the Calendar takes it's toll. Yes, forming a new local group saves some drive time. But you go from one group with 16 people to run an event, to two groups with 8 people each to run two events. Plus, some of the splits develop a certain We/They flavor - and helping out across the aisle becomes rare. One wonders how necessary it all is. Upside: I've not heard a wisp of talk about Principality from anybody since the first mad rush after Northshield formally became a Kingdom.

I did start knitting a Dutch cap for John. The ream of research on period Speculaas is getting sorted. One Dutch book is scanned, the other awaits.

John got a new chair the other day. A local major furniture store is folding. It wasn't a chain, and carried a lot of different stuff unavailable elsewhere. I'll miss them. But the big, poofy, less that 1/2 off leather recliner is a good consolation.

New sewer pump goes in Friday. New freezer likely to be acquired tomorrow. I have my e-bay eye on a milk pasteurizer. And a cow share is likely in our future.

Oh, and I have a question for any of the woodsy type people. Would this likely be adequate for turning hardwood lace making bobbins?

Hopefully internet access at work will get more consistent. I am currently tired, and need to finish painting the basement tomorrow if at all possible. (well, trim might wait for the weekend or next week.)
