Cricket Song
Jun. 17th, 2010 08:37 pmI'm having one of those electronic "lonely" periods. ;-) I have about a dozen e-mails out without replies. Some of them for better that a week. It's what comes of rabble rousing, maybe. I'd get paranoid, but one of them is to Master Talan, who would answer regardless, when he has time.
I suspect its more likely that everybody else is on vacation or out doing fun stuff whilst I slog on day by day. My gastric foreign body case died in surgery (way too late, septic already), and today I did an amputation on
ablackram's kitty. That's always a job, but more so this time, as so much of the muscle was already necrotic that I had to go up much higher than I wanted to. I did warn her he may sort of pee sideways, now. :-P
It's going to be a hot, hot weekend, so we've made the decision to skip Border War. Anneliese hasn't been all that easily to handle lately, and heat tends to make it worse. Once again, bowing to the winds of Autism seems the course of wisdom. Too, since we don't camp, we don't have a campsite. I never know where it's acceptable to pitch a shade fly and day camp, so I feel like I'm imposing on somebody. Or we pitch it WAY out of the way, and I feel like I'm so out of the loop I don't see anybody. John has to re-auth anyway, and isn't going to until he gets his new kit together. Hopefully Verrix will help him pick out stuff that will pass.
Instead, we're headed to my parents' this weekend. I made Mom a very happy Grandma. She's been moaning at me for quite a while about wanting to see her girls, but this is the first chance we've had when I wasn't working and she wasn't otherwise occupied. John and I can soak up the central AC, and the girls can play in the wading pool Mom got for them. Everybody happy.
Also contemplating what to do with the girls this fall. If Rori has figured out how to get out of the crib, they'll have to go into the same room. Rori's room has no heat register, and I don't trust her with the ceramic heater if she's not in the crib. However, Anneliese's room isn't very big, either. At first I had been considering some kind of bunk bed - with significant trepidation. Now, I'm thinking trundle unit, if one will fit under Liesl's bed. I'm not sure who will end up sleeping in which bed - or maybe they'll decide to sleep together, who knows. But they'll be sufficient bed and nothing too high.
Hope springs eternal that John will get a job, we can get our feet under us, and buy a bigger house. We're rapidly outgrowing this one. I should bring home some of the furniture I left at Mom and Dad's this weekend. Well, largely childhood furntiure. And clean out the closet in the downstairs bedroom. If I haven't used my class notes in 10 years, I'm not going to.
I'm just a little mood-swingy, I guess. I have some hopes that things can be done on the SCA side. Dependent on whether anybody else agrees with my take on things. Work is bleh. But tolerable. The house is a bit overwhelming. And dealing with the girls has it's little joys and horrors.
Maybe I'll even bring John's new 'rok fabric home and use Mom's serger to put the stripes together.
