Vintage Books and Looks
Jan. 29th, 2011 04:02 pmFirst off, thanks everybody for the help with the portrait! I think he was a bit disappointed that it wasn't as old a piece as he thought it was. But it is what it is.
I managed to wander out for a little while and hit one of the antique shops. I got some adorable vintage cookbooks (dating between 1936 and 1969). I also picked up 3 pyrex mixing bowls (2 red, one turquoise). I passed by 2 pink pyrex baking dishes - an 8"round and and 8" square. Though I might wander back later should I be able to justify it.
For the first phase, I still need a dish and a backdrop. I'd like a pink milk glass compote and a vintage table cloth. There are still 3 other shops in the immediate vicinity. So there is hope.
I'm also shopping around for books on food styling. The library system (statewide) has neither of those I'd like to look at. So I may need to hit the bookstore at least to look. Amazon will undoubtedly have a better price, plus I still have some credit there. So, along with the harp book, I'll probably get one of them.
I like this blog: But I hate that it plays music. A note to remember for later.

I do love that she found (found!) a pink refrigerator ca. 1949 that she uses to hold office supplies. OK, I wouldn't DO that, because I have small children. Who might try to hide in it. But a neat thought.
I would really have liked a nap, but little Striperella decided to get naked again and is currently in the tub while her sheets are in the washer. *sigh*
I have a pie-in-the-sky longterm plan with the blog thing. But I don't know if I can pull it off. Details later so you can all tell me I'm insane.
