Pie, Self-Reinvention and Baking as Art
Mar. 30th, 2011 03:48 pmYes, I should be working on my class notes. Sue me. They're in a state of almost done-ness. And I have a block of time this afternoon that will be relatively uninterrupted by those pesky appointments.
There's nothing quite like Life-changing Events to make you sit and re-evaluate your purpose in life. Mostly right now:

Rori (naturally) came down with a cold, likely picked up at her new class. Which segued into a recurrence of the ear infection, meaning we were up all night Monday night. Things are better now. But yesterday was sleepy baby day, natch. She took a 2 hour nap, and then fussed, but when I picked her up, went to sleep again in my lap. So we curled up on the couch to watch Disney stuff while Momma indulged in weepiness over what is to come and what we will never do. I had dreams. They were small, pedestrian dreams for the most part. No fame, no huge fortune. But even those will be put aside for the moment.
So, while wallowing in self-pity, and having picked up a copy of a magazine to indulge myself with, I stumbled across Pietopia. I'm debating. It's a contest with an actual entry fee. But the prize is a flight to St. Paul for the Creative Connection conference. I'm not sure if conference registration is included or not.
It looks like fun. Maybe it would be inspiring? Hard to say. I'm just a little lost at the moment. And - my life in Pie. I already have an idea.
So - anybody have any Words'O'Wisdom? Or willing to test-bake?
