Now, generally I try to avoid to-do lists. Mostly because for me, they're a lot like calculating the precise value of Pi - a lot of tedium, ad infinitum, there isn't any real point past the first few digits, and nobody cares anyway. Well, nobody except those geeky enough to celebrate Pi Day.

I did, however, get my compost bin assembled today, and put in a first layer.

And on Tuesday, I managed to scan another couple hundred pages of wills and bequests from the Netherlands. I'll try and translate and post one from time to time.

well, we sometimes celebrate Pi day, but only as an excuse to make pie. :)

Who needs an excuse? *g*

Hmmm, seized by urge to make the old French Silk pie - raw eggs and all.

You can get pasteurized eggs in the shell, so that isn't really a worry anymore.

I've never seen them locally, though.

I get my eggs from my technician, so a little more safe than average, as they're much fresher. But still, any chicken can be a carrier, after all.

Calculating pi has value :-P stinking life science people and yet it doesn't because we all know that pi = pi. You don't need to substitute for it. ramblings of a mathematician at 4am after fussy kiddos

Oh, I should celebrate pi day this year. I wonder which kind of pie will not wreck our diet?

Now, be nice. I took Calculus. Even got offered an override into Multivariable calculus. Just needed the credit hours for other stuff.

Sometimes you need a value to plug into an equation. And sometimes you're too lazy to determine how many sig figs you really want.

Hmmm, maybe a lemon chiffon? Chiffon pies are about 50% air. :-) And lemon is spring-y.

My AP Chemistry teacher used to call the Biology dept "the people from down the hall."

In Mathematics, you never need how many significant digits of pi you need because pi = pi and you can leave the answer at that. 3(pi/2) is not 4.712385... it is 3(pi/2) we are not interested in approximations in mathematics. We even like imaginary numbers. :-)

I was never real fond. Though I prefer them to quantum physics, which just makes my head hurt. Higgs-Boson particles in particular.
