Now, generally I try to avoid to-do lists. Mostly because for me, they're a lot like calculating the precise value of Pi - a lot of tedium, ad infinitum, there isn't any real point past the first few digits, and nobody cares anyway. Well, nobody except those geeky enough to celebrate Pi Day.
I did, however, get my compost bin assembled today, and put in a first layer.
And on Tuesday, I managed to scan another couple hundred pages of wills and bequests from the Netherlands. I'll try and translate and post one from time to time.

Sometimes you need a value to plug into an equation. And sometimes you're too lazy to determine how many sig figs you really want.
Hmmm, maybe a lemon chiffon? Chiffon pies are about 50% air. :-) And lemon is spring-y.

Date: 2009-03-13 05:10 pm (UTC)In Mathematics, you never need how many significant digits of pi you need because pi = pi and you can leave the answer at that. 3(pi/2) is not 4.712385... it is 3(pi/2) we are not interested in approximations in mathematics. We even like imaginary numbers. :-)
