The ID shopping list....

So the Irish Dance place will take Anneliese AND an aide, without us paying 2x the tuition, which I think is very nice of them. So I have until classes start in Sept to get her gear together.

The list:
Tote bag
T-shirt
Shorts
Poodle socks
ghillies

She won't need a school dress for a while, if ever. Same with the curlers. But I'll bookmark some stuff, just in case. Heck, she may never even get into hard shoes. But as long as she enjoys herself, good enough.

I suspect, if she does like it enough to continue, by the time Rori is old enough she'll want in on this. ;-) Here we see the real disadvantage to the fact that they look nothing alike. I can't hand down Anneliese's things. Especially things like a dance wig and probably the shoes. She has SUCH skinny feet. Though Rori MIGHT, I may be better off to sell them and just get new ones for Rori should I need to.

From my own prior experience in ID, I can tell you that most stuff (except for really run down ghillies) can be resold to other kids in the same school once she outgrows it.

Probably a lot of it, yes. Though some things will be more difficult. She is a complete and total twig. With feet like ice skate blades.

I may take her to the Feis in August and have her FITTED for a pair of shoes, rather than just measure and order. Narrow feet with incredibly high arches.

The only way non-knit off-the-rack clothes fit her is if it's adjustable waist and I crank the elastics ALL the way in. And if it isn't falling down, it's still too short.

Heh. And maybe use up some of that excess energy. Though she really doesn't need the calorie burn. Last time I checked she was 4'2" and weighed 46 pounds.

I seem to remember the last time I took her to watch a feis there was at least one merchant fitting shoes. Everybody had poodle socks. And there were practice outfits and dance bags as well. So I might just take my list to the Feis. Even at "event" prices, at least I'm not paying shipping. And it's not like there's a local merchant! (Klompen dancing, yes. ID - um, no. Wrong area of the country for it to be a big thing. But then, my little dark-haired angel stands out like a sore thumb in the sea of blondes around here anyway.

BTW - You may want to check with the school she is going to take lessons from re: dance bags. Some schools have 'school bags' for their students and I seem to recall they are about the same price...
