So, I brought a bunch of linen to work today. And washed it here. *blush* Well, I'm pressed for time, as usual. And will probably end up sewing on garb on the way to Twelfth Night. I also brought my box of paint and such, so I can letter one more scroll. Tomorrow will be the mad printing of glosses and Court Lists and such. Ack!

So, in order to lighten things up and do something fun, I present for your enjoyment:
Courtesy of the Attack Laurel - whom I would very much like to meet someday.

1. What is your SCA name? (You don't have to write the full name, just your first name if you want.) - Femke de Roas. I got the benefit of the doubt from the CoA because of the very tiny amount of information available on Middle Fries.

2. What is your home kingdom? - Middle

3. Have you ever lived in another kingdom? If so, where? - Nope. I'm a homebody. I like where I am and fully intend to entrench into this community.

4. Do you remember your first SCA event? When/what was it? - Val Day, 2001. I saw the now Baron Sir Garth receive his Red Company. Had no clue what was going on. And was so phenomenally put out with my sister for failing to get feast tickets. I had driven down almost 2 horus after working all morning, mostly because she had bribed my into it with the Feast.

5. Do you have any awards? (You don't have to list them if you don't want) - The usual bare AoA, and an AoA level Arts award (Willow).

6. Do you list them after your name in communications like e-mail? - Never.

7. Do you have a device? - Yes!

8. Do you use it? On what? - All the time. Painted on the back of my chair, on my nylon chair's cover, banners, etc.

9. Are you on all the kingdom/society lists available to you, or do you avoid them? - I'm NOT on the Kingdom List because it annoys me. I do subscribe to a lot of the local group lists, to keep up on what's going on. And I subscribe to a number of heraldry, scribal, cooking, and costuming lists.

10. Do you keep your Pennsic/Estrella/Gulf Wars/etc. site tokens? - Never been. *sniff*

11. Do you keep the favours you've been given by royalty/friends/SOs, etc.? Do You wear them all? - Yes - when I don't lose them. I don't wear them, as a rule.

12. Do you call your friends by their SCA names even when you're not at an event? - *blush* Yep, if that's how I first met them. I've even been known to ask for them on the phone that way. Or not be able to figure out WHO is on the phone when THEY use their real names.

13. Do you go out to dinner in garb after an event? - On rare occasions we'll stop for fast food in garb. Often, we strip and get back into mundanes before we leave the event.

14. Do you have all kinds of garb, or do you generally stick to one period? - A smattering. I prefer 14th century, but I'm easily distracted.

15. How many interests do you have within the SCA? What's your favourite? - They don't call me "Butterfly Brain" for nothin'. Umm, costuming, embroidery, baking, preserves, confections, lace, silk net, calligraphy, illumination, bright shiny objects of all kinds....

16. Do you have an SCA-oriented web site (to show off projects, keep dress diaries, etc.)? - A few of my scribal projects are up. Other than that, I lack the time, funds, and know-how. It's on my "to-do" list.

17. Do you maintain a hairstyle that is more period style than modern? How about any other part of your appearance? - Yes, but mostly because it's more convenient. My hair is long, wavy, and full of cowlicks. Without the weight to pull it down, I look like I licked my finger and stuck it in a light socket.

18. Do you tell "No $###, there I was" stories? (Admit it.) Do any of them involve well-known SCA people? - On occasion. To both. *g*

19. Authenticity is Fun. Yes or no? Why? - Yes and no. Yes, because I love the challenge of research. No, because my stuff falls so short of where I want it to be, due to time, money, etc.

20. Is there one modern thing at events that really bugs you? I'm pretty laid-back. And, with a special-needs child for whom I bring modern things, I feel like I'm not in a position to cast stones, anyway.

Bonus Question! 21. Everyone has a shameful garb/accessory mistake hidden somewhere in their past. What's yours? (We're all friends here, we promise not to laugh. Much.) Oy. Um. Well, there is the awful first boice and skirt I had out of upholstery fabric. And then the "cotehardie" of matte satin that I had to ease the sleeves into the armhole so extensively that they appear "puffed." Combine that with the fact that it was too tight and wouldn't lace correctly, so I wore it with an equally bad brocade pelicon that I got out of Norris' book before I knew better. *sigh*
