Hey, we're nearing the old Medieval New Year, aren't we?

So, having picked up the Power Yoga DVD (On sale at Target this week, $11.99) on the way home from work last night, I gave it a try this morning. Now, I should note that Dad defines Wisdom as learning from other people's mistakes and Experience as learning from your own. I have a substantial bent toward the latter, but decided to try the former for once. Knowing that my darling mentor nearly incapacitated herself with the whole thing, I did the first 20 minutes. Ow. Ow ow ow ow. ooooch. Whilst I was aware that yoga was more difficult than it looks, THIS I was not expecting. It also served as a rather forceful reminder that I'm not 20 anymore. But hey, WHEN did I lose the ability to bend down and TOUCH THE FLOOR. I used to be able to lay my palms flat, now I can just get my fingertips down there. Some of these poses I couldn't even get into effectively, let alone maintain for any substantial period. Rrrmmmpphhh. Clearly this will take a while. Clearly, it will also be good for me.

Just so "I" don't get discouraged I think I'll note now that when I started today I couldn't even lay my heels on the floor for the downward dog - let alone manage the angle pose in anything better than a pale approximations. *sigh* I predict with confidence that my butt will hurt tomorrow. Or maybe even today. Other parts, too, I'm sure - but mostly my poor little rump.

I stopped off at Hobby Lobby last night and got the Green Silk for Lucia. Plan on stopping at her place tonight on my way home from work. SO, must remember to bring along: Blue silk, green silk, black velveteen, Knowne World CD, Lucia's address, phone number, and mapquest map. Hopefully all will go well!
