Tiny Update

Last weekend was a marathon trip to Charlevoix for my Grandfather's funeral. Stately, though not too much weeping, as he'd been on a steady decline for several months and was, after all, 92. My cousin David delivered the eulogy, and I must admit that of his anecdotes, only one actually reminded me of Grandpa. On one occasion, he was driving out to the farm with my cousin Nate in mid January in icy conditions. Some idiot went roaring around them and out of sight. Unsurprsingly, around the next been they found the self-same idiot in a ditch. Grandpa pulled over, rolled down his window and asked "Are you OK?"
"Hey, can you get me out of here?" asked the idiot, eyeing Grandpa's 4x4 truck.
"ARE YOU OK?" repeated Grandpa.
"Yeah, yeah. I'm fine. But can you pull me out?"
Grandpa eyed him carefully, then said, "Nope, I think you're safer where you are," rolled up the window and drove off.
Classic Johnny right there.
It was a long trip with little sleep and a severe muscle cramp from not moving around enough in the car. But I came home to this:
My secret pal had sent another package, bless her! A lovely needle holder, a knitting bag for socks and other small projects, yummies, sock yarn, and a pattern and bits for a cute little mini sock-on-a-blocker keychain. Gotta love that woman!!
