"You could say this advice is priceless," she said. "Are you listneing?"

"Yes," said Tiffany.

"Good. Now... if you trust in yourself.."

"Yes?"

"...and believe in your dreams...."

"Yes?"

"...and follow your star..." Miss Tick went on.

"Yes?"

"...you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy. Goodbye."

Heh. It gives me hope that someday all the blood, sweat, and tears may still pay off.

Today? Well, got part of the front room scrubbed, pulled a muscle in my back. An intercostal, I think - hurts to take a deep breath. Rori has been videotaped. Apparently this is their way of monitoring THEIR progress. In a year, they tape again, run them side by side, and pat themselves on the back about how much they've helped this kid.

Oh, and the State of Michigan, in it's idiotic typical fashion is now attempting to yank almost a third of the money from the program and ship it to Detroit. MI residents who feel like weighing in, go here:

There may not BE funding for Rori to keep receiving services. Grrrr.

Oh, and I have a batch of John Besh's recipe beignets started. We shall see. No white Belgian candi sugar in the house, so no sugar bread today.

Both my new "Celebrations" magazine AND a new copy of the Disney vacation planning DVD showed up today. That oughta go good with the beignets. And another screening of the Princess and the Frog.

[livejournal.com profile] alysten is probably the only one who gets why this is a day-brightening bit of excitement. ;-) Yeah, let me know what the Mickey crocs colors are this year, if you get a chance, dear. I have a friend who lives in Orlando, so I'm sure I can get her to nip down to Downtown Disney later if we come to a conclusions. Thanks!

Must go. Toddlers to snuggle, rooms to scrub, coops to shop for. I think we'll get one, as we don't seem in imminent danger of pulling up stakes. I'd as soon get rid of these chickies and get some better layers. Store bought cackleberries are so anemic, once you get used to the fresh kind.

Not bad, really. I brought down a plate and said to John, "Well, here they are. Not sure if they're the man-catching variety, though"

He ate one, thoughtfully. Then had another. "They are."

Anneliese refused them, totally. I said, "doughnut?" and she shoved it away. However, on the way to bed, John stopped by the plate, picked one up, and told her, "sniff."

She sighed. "Sniff." Then did so. Her eyes got wide, she grabbed it, and began nibbling. Then stuffed the rest down. Then came back for more.

Rori was in bed, but will probably get one in the AM. She's usually up for anything sweet.

Basically, beignets are a hit, all around. ;-)

Now to sit and watch Sherlock Holmes with John before bed. And basically be a lazy thing for at least a couple hours.

Macarons! Probably this weekend. They should be cute Easter treats.

I only just discovered that macarons are not, in fact, anything like the macaroons I remember. Supposedly, they're tricky little beasts. But I've always been fairly good with meringue. I think I'll give it a go. ;-)

And no, I have no idea where I got onto the French pastry kick. Maybe it has something to do with various friends going to Paris and taking pictures of things in museums and not sharing....
