A paen to America - by a Canadian. In many ways as true today as it was almost 40 years ago:

Wow. Never disturb a sleeping moppet. I got her up at 4, since I figured she'd had enough of a nap. Must be she'd played in her crib for a while. She cried incessantly for about an hour, finally settled down to minor crabbing, and had little baby bags under her eyes by the time I put her back down at four.

In between, I did manage to nip out to JoAnns. The 4th of July sale is usually worthwhile. I did score that teal velveteen. Goin' in the stash for my eventual ridiculously high end Saxon. Thread also 50% off. Which would have been a better score, had I been able to remember what colors I needed. At least the nice lady at the counter had an extra 10% off coupon, so I ended up "saving" more than I spent. How often does THAT happen. And cotton velveteen at $3.50/yd is not to be sneezed at. I did NOT have my 40% off coupon, so I did NOT get another bolt of muslin. Yet. But really, 40% off JoAnns Coupons are not that hard to come by.

Smocking samples are in production.

Planning has begun for a page on Men's Saxon. I'd like to include the extant garment images, some portraits and paintings, and tie it into a "dress diary" of the outfit I'd like to make for John. So we'll see how that goes.

We might or might not do the fireworks in Grand Haven tomorrow. We can see the fireworks from home - but you have to be downtown to get the music and the musical fountain along with it. I LIKE the fireworks. But I'm not sure Anneliese will. Her noise sensitivity has developed over the years, and she wasn't REAL fond of the fireworks at Disney. Plus, it's past Rori's bedtime. And she's much more adamant about bedtime being bedtime than Anneliese was.

I am dog tired (pun intended) after the last three days at work. But we're already nearly booked for Monday, confirming my decision that being open Monday would be important. Every appointment I see Monday is one less double-booking for Tuesday or Thursday. Ah well. Should make for a good check, if nothing else.

One more week off for the girls, then a mere 3 weeks this year of Summer Program through the schools. So we'll try to keep them busy during August. There is at least one Feis to take Anneliese to. Maybe even get new shoes and poodle socks. Beyond that, not really sure. But we'll work on coming up with enough to keep them busy so they don't get TOO stir crazy. Probably we should work on finding a sitter we can trust locally.
