Tres Odd Night.

Conversation One:

As I'm outside, putting the last (I hope) of the paint on the doll bunk beds, and John comes out to see me...

Me: Note, my darling, that I did not shriek like the heroine in a Victoria Holt novel.

He: And why should you?

Me: I just wish you to note that fact, as you proceed into the garage. Look at your table saw. Now look upward, and gaze upon the splendour that is the Spider Conqueror of Omicron Persiei 8.

He: (Inserting bad Cockney accent) Oi! 'E is a big 'un, innit he? What kind is he? And -
Um - now what?

Me: Well, I did favor the idea of somehow flinging him into the chicken pen, whereon some sort of darwinian cage match would ensue. However, I'm not entirely sure who'd win and we ARE down a chicken already. Knowing my luck, the Rock would end up dead of fright and our only layer who reliably actually lays eggs would be gone. So, I don't know.

He: *ponder* Well, the blowtorch is right here.

Me: O_o Um - honey... lots of flammable stuff....

So, Spidermous Prime lives another night. Possibly [personal profile] alysten and [personal profile] hsifeng feel my pain, being involved in relationships with the sort of men who believe that the best things in life have fuses. *head desk*

Beds are done. Bedding - not so much. :-(

I have been scouring the house for extra pacifiers. Rori has taken biting the end and then pulling- which cracks the base. He current one is also cracked. So John went out for another pkg. He's a good boy.

I did also make a batch of peach jam. It's a French recipe - 1/2 white and 12/ yellow peaches. Much like a period recipe I have for plums, you bring it to a boil - then let it set over night. Then strain out the fruit, boil the syrup to set point, stir the fruit back in, bring back to a boil, and pot it up.

Might be good with sponge cake and whipped cream as a jelly roll. ;-)

ETA - John did NOT go to the store for extra paccies. He was out searching the van. No luck. So I went. I knew I'd be awake all night worrying about her choking.

It wasn't even hard to swap them, though there was an audible "pop" when I removed the old one and replaced it with the new one.

*sigh* Gotta break her of those, and soon. I let her go longer, as I felt she needed a sleepy prop, since Anneliese wakes/keeps her up a lot. And she's not that into blankies or plushies. Heck, given how much the nuk makes everything better - I wish I had one.
