The Little Joys of Lake Effect
Dec. 6th, 2010 10:35 pmWow. I forgot how much fun Lake Michigan can generate before she freezes over.
It was clear and sunny all day at work. The drive home, smooth - right up until Zeeland. I hit the snow like a wall - instant white out.
While I was still trying to adjust to the change, I got to plow through 6 inches of marshmallow world on the ramp to 31. And then discovered that the reflectors were so encrusted with snow as to be invisible. Leaving me to hope intensely that I was ON the road, but not allow me to be certain.
Just as abruptly, I came out of it just south of Grand Haven. Though there was still enough snow cover for Ilsa to turn on the electronic traction control. Repeatedly. I'm not sure she trusts me. (Maybe the Ranger snitched on me?)
Heh. White Christmas, anyone?
