Sitting here with brekkie, and watching Food Network Challenge. (Since I have no new episodes of Cupcake Wars, which I prefer, to watch).
I do like these sorts of things. And that (plus the urgency of getting garb done for Val Day) makes me miss doing Golden Seamstress a bit.
No, I have no intention of going back to that event. I don't think we'd get any further with a German outfit than we ever have in the past. And while I probably could get together the stuff to do a rockin' Indian or Mughal outfit - it would just grind me to cater that way to the very strong bias that exists in the format.
But I do wish I had a similar event (that I liked better) to get it out of my system. I don't really want to stay up all night just for the halibut. On the other hand, I'd like to get something DONE.
So I made my girls some chocolate cupcakes with cinnamon buttercream AND some pumpkin muffins last night. Which satisfied a little bit of it.
And now I need advice on some cool garb that I have a chance of getting done for Val Day. I have a little dress for Rori. I just have to finish the one I made for Anneliese for RUM.
But John and I?
Val Day used to be all about bling. But I'm sitting troll for a couple of hours, then chasing the girls while John works the list table.
So, do I:
Tear the skirt of my Cheese Ladies gown, put it back on, do all the guarding, and make sleeves, cuffs, and a partlet.
Go for a simple Saxon gown of the more peasant-y type.
Do a full-bore Saxon.
Make another run at the Housebook dress
Dye the sea green wool I have more of a "Cleves Blue" and do a Cleves style gown.
Get out the blue-grey wool and go for the Northern Transitional gown.
For John:
Find some silk for the linings and make him a shirt, Sture doublet, and pluders. (Would need to order stockings)
Go for the Saxon Noble look - Red doublet, slashed with cream, and loden and red Schaube.
Other suggestions that someone might have....
