If you are an AoA or higher in the SCA, and even if you aren't and really are observant of things and people around you, you need to write in.

If you enjoy going out to fight practice and have fun beating up your friends, you need to write them in.

There are many awards.
You don't need to hold one to write someone in for one.
It only takes one letter, but it's really cool when there are many.
