femkes_folliesIn an effort to not count the day a total loss, I did sit down and sew together some red and white silk dupioni tonight. So I have the base for my pouch. The red I rinsed in cold water to try to remove excess dye - wish I could get it to crisp back up, but didn't want to use a hot hot iron for fear of dulling the lustre on the silk. And found a scrap of linen to put behind it. Now I just have to trace on my little dragon and get him stitched. Maybe Thursdayish. Hmm, where DID I stick my silk floss.... around here somewhere I'm sure...
The husband drove all the way out to GR only to discover practice had been cancelled - nd the post to that effect appeared after he'd left so there it was. Wasted trip. Grrr.
I have a three day weekend coming up and am trying to decide what to do with it.
Maybe do some work on my pentathalon plans. Layout the design for my embroidery piece. Decide to use or discard the indigo dyebath still sitting on my stovetop. Oooh, hey, stir up a madder bath?
My boss handed me a Trees of Antiquity catalog the other day and I spent 48 hours daydreaming about period apple trees and espalier. I'm now busy telling myself that there's no real point when we don't plan to have the house for more that a couple years longer. Still, it's soooooo tempting. White pearmain apples, greengage plums.....gooseberry bushes, alpine strawberries.....
