Are any of these decent as a basis for German fighting gear? John is trying to redo his kit, and I'm using the manuscript from Emperor Maximilian as inspiration... but he'd like more detail on other aspects. Trying to figure out how to integrate period appearance with SCA requirements, lighten the kit, and pimp out a pair of high teks to LOOK like they go with it.

Date: 2010-07-07 11:12 am (UTC)He's got a form of RA, and it s bowing to it enough to lighten things up. A lot. So, on the advice of other folks, is going to swap out his steel shoulders and breastplate for rugby armour. He'll keep the gorget, and the stainless gothic knees he has, as well as gauntlets and helm. The rest is going buh-by.
Taking this manuscript for inspiration:
http://daten.digitale-sammlungen.de/~db/0001/bsb00016005/images/index.html?projekt=1157525559&id=00016005&fip=24.231.153.77&no=22&seite=32
So there'll be a Rok that goes over most of it. With the big poofy sleeves. But we either need to work out how to strap the knees to say on without ctting off circulation (currently they're attatched to the thighs and get pointed to a belt), or figure out some other arrangement. The thighs are plastic and need replacing anyway.
The only thing that'll really be visible is his helm, gauntlets, and legs. And parts of the legs can LIKELY be covered, too. Especially if I make him some paned slops that cover the thighs.
He's less interested at this point that I pin down a specific decade than he is picking a time period where he can assemble a kit that looks reasonably decent and helps offset the ravages of time and autoimmune disease.
