Or, a lightly steamed version of what's currently running through my head.

After running around rather a lot over several days, I've stocked up on the basic ingredients of gluten-free goodie-making. Mom, bless her heart, picked up three gluten-free cookbooks. One of which is a bread baking book. (John, at one point, asked why I'd told her we were going to do a GF trial - Why? Because I knew she'd go hog wild and turn up with cookbooks, flours, mixes, and go through a bunch of trials herself. And I'm gonna let her) Anywho - I finally managed to acquire the makings of what looks like a pretty reasonable flour mix - superfine rice flour, potato flour, tapioca flour, sweet rice flour, and xanthan gum. I have to go get a dedicated air-tight bin for it. But then we're ready to go. It does help that I've found quite a bit of stuff online, and a nice blog that has recipes for champagne cupcakes and brioche cinnamon rolls. There is hope. It's not gonna be easy. And I'm conflicted. On one hand, I hope it helps, because anything that helps is good. On the other hand, I hope it doesn't - because I don't want to have to make this a lifestyle. :-/ Not that ASD isn't every bit as much of a lifestyle as the SCA - just one you can't quit if you get tired of it.

Lessee - I also did a run through JoAnn's. Without my coupon, dammit. They have a copy of Country Bumpkin's A-Z of smocking, that I think I'll have to go get. It's a beautiful book, helpful, and will be good for my class at RUM. Of course, I would also like to have the A to Z of embroidery stitches that was also there. And I'll need a bolt of the 44" Roclon bleached muslin. Hopefully JoAnn's will continue the regular shipment of coupons over the next few weeks so I can indulge with less guilt. :-)

[livejournal.com profile] ablackram and I are going to do a 2-hour make-it/take-it class on smocked shirts, chemises, and collars for RUM. I don't know how it will go, since it's going to require a certain degree of pre-registration so that we can have materials ready. But nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I'm also thinking over the Regional styles class. I think I'll get it ready, though I've been mulling how to do handouts withou breaking the bank on color printing or color ink cartridges. Possibly the handout will be just a picture or two of each - and I'll include a CD with more images. I'm just trying to work out how much info those images can be tagged with on the disc.

The little project stack is getting high enough to be in danger of falling on my. Hopefully I can get the bedding for the doll beds I'm making for the boss'd daughter cut out at lunch tomorrow. And the beds painted verrah soon.

That way I can get back to the housebook dress, the wulsthaube, etc, etc....

Just to really make today a total wash, Rori seems to have contracted Fifth disease. She soke this AM with a rash, that's been spreading. She hasn't eaten much in a day or so, and is pretty cranky. John recalled that there was a little boy with a rash at the play place he took them to on Wednesday - he tried to snatch her away, but it was too late.

Now, I have enough feeling for others not to take my kid to public areas like that when she's sick. Wish other people could have the same courtesy.

Off to snuggle with the moppet, then maybe do a GF baking trial.
