I DO have POF 4 and I pour over it regularly. I also have some of the extant garment pictures and articles that Mistress Katherine sent me.
I've played around quite a little with the chemises. I know the Italian one on Bella's site is supposedly the rectangles at right angles style. I can't get it to work. Whilst doing the rectangles in parallel works out great. It even works for the high-necked versions if you use a little larger underarm gusset and remember to cut the sleeves longer than you think you need to.
Curious to know what YOUR issues are with her work, but E-mail is great too if you'd rather.
The pictures were great, THANK you. It looks like the smocking was done over 3-4 pleats/stitch - which gives it the pattern-darned look and definitely is NOT something done modernly. That's a wonderful piece of info to have.
