I must be moving up in the world. Belesa, my technician, informed me on Thursday that I'm now qualified on my new clinic's surgical protocol - since I have demonstrated that I know all the words. Ahem.

Stopped off at Hobby Lobby on Friday night and picked up some silk for Lucia, for the Italian outfit she wants to make. I let her know what I'd gotten - and what I'd passed on. So now I need to stop off on Monday and get the OTHER silk, too. *g* Then Tuesday I'm stopping off at her place after work to help fit her and draft a pattern. Or two, or maybe three. She's decided she wants a venentian from the blue embroidered tone-on-tone striped damask - and a Florentine from the olive and cream brocade. So I have to figure out where on Earth I stuck my cd with the proceedings from 2004's Knowne World Costuming Symposium which (I hope) has both Alaina's Florentine Bodice class notes as well as Mistress Drea's tweaked corset drafting instructions.

Picked up some fabric for cushions for the super-cool chairs that Dad is making. Got one together, then realized that I had cut the side pieces too short. So I get to pull it appart and do it again. *sigh* I've put that aside to deal with tomorrow. Though I was getting a serious case of sewing machine envy working with my Mother's Designer 1.

The Queen Eleonora gown is still rattling around in my head. I think I'll be sensible and start with the underpinnings. I nice simple chemise with some appropriate embroidery around the neckline. And a corded petticoat. Trying to decide how many 60" panels the skirt should have. I wonder if 2 will be enough, as long as the cording holds it out. 180" seems like a bit much for a petticoat. The plan at the moment is to use cotton twill for the petticoat, or perhaps a substantial broadcloth. Then, I intend to use bias tape to make channels for 1/4 inch cording. I think I'll start with 5 rows of cording, about 5" apart and see if that does the trick.

In the meantime, I should really get to the repair work on my Dutch gown from Golden Seamstress. I've washed the green gown, now just need to cut out alayer of acro and a layer of cotton broadcloth to line it with. I think that will be cooler than the cotton duck I was originally planning on. Bless Alaina for tucking the original patterns in my tote. Now I just have to remember whether we had left seam allowances when we cut it or not... seems like there was something slightly goofy about the shoulders.

I've also got the linen and wool to do an outfit for my little girl. I'm debating about a brueghel style, or just scaling down my van Leyden gown and cutting the neckline more modestly for her. Without the fancy sleeves on the overgown, naturally. Maybe a sleeveless kirtle and a more structured wool overgown. That ought to get us through Summer and Fall. Though it might bring the Garb Snarks out of hiding.

Getting to be bedtime... Or at least sit on the couch and be a slug time. 'Specially since we're at my folks' place so that Anneliese can have Grandma time. Which both of them are enjoying to the hilt.

seam allowances are on your pattern, the shoulders have been fixed. Just need to tuck up the front of the pattern 1 inch only. :)

Lucia has a florentine pattern. I sent it to her 2 weeks ago. It should have seam allowances. Venetian can be arranged with little fixing (ie cutting out the V that I made with pen in the front of the pattern.

Depending on what she wants, the florentine does NOT need a corset. Just 2 layers of trigger or layer of Acro and trigger.

And I'd go with minimally 2 if not 3 panels for a corded. But you know me, I'm a skirt slut

Gotcha. I claim total sleep deprivation on the bodice pattern thing. *g* Could NOT remember what we had ended up with.

I shouldn't have TOO much trouble getting a few things drafted out for Lucia.

Yes, I know you're a skirt slut. I just wasn't sure at what point the petticoat would get to be a large anchor for sinking small women.
