- Don't feel compelled to pick a name (or a persona) immediately -- give yourself some time - Don't take up an office - don't join a household (unless it's specifically designed to help new folks get their groundings!) - don't go out and spend lots of $$$ on stuff. Used/thriftstore/barter can be your friends!

Simplicity patterns are better than ren-wench garb. Really. Trust me on this one.
Not everything (like feast gear) has to match. There's a ***LOT*** of stuff you can do on a budget!
