Hopefully I can get a little bit accomplished this weekend. Work has been crazy-busy as it's Rabies-rush season. (Meaning that since in this County, you must have your dog license by March first or the price jumps from $10 to $80 - so everybody and their brother procrastinates and waits to get their vaccine in Feb.)

We're off to the Michigan Winter Beer Fest with our pals-ies. I'm the designated driver, so we'll have a van-load. We'll see what else we get up to while we're at it. Alaina had mentioned trying to fit Darling for a doublet. However, he's lost 20 lbs and intends to lose another 30, so I'm not sure that's a worthwhile enterprise. It wouldn't fit by the time I got it done.

I've decided to focus on the Noord-Holland dresses for RUM, and save the material on the earlier gowns for another class.

Scribal work continues.... 'nuff said for now. *g* I'm being a tease.

I think I may do some very simple little sweet bags with discs of period chocolate (with instructions on making up the drink), and possibly a smocked chemise, shirt, or two for HRH. Stuff that requires little effort on my part.

I've agreed to start writing outgoing reports for the Academy of St. Gabriel again, as the manpower shortage is really decreasing the amount of stuff that can get done. I'm somehwat ambivalent at the moment. I like heraldry and onomastics. I get fairly frustrated with the average SCA clueless herald, and the absolute ignorance of the submission process as well as what constitutes a good period name and device. And I've got other interests higher in mind.

I also want to sit down and sort of map out where I want my research to go. Expect a locked post on this later, with a request for advice. But I think I need some direction, rather than spinning from sparkly to sparkly like a top. *sigh* I know, heresy, coming from the butterfly. But still. I need a Purpose in Life. Or was that a porpoise? Either might do..... (It really has been a long, long week).

If your husband is still loosing weight, then do not make him anything complicated until he is at his final weight.

Good news on the heraldry front, the exact thing that you are complaining about is what Dafydd is going to address once he steps up as Dragon. How do I know? He told me so at Candlemas.

*g* I worship at the altar of Dafydd. That would be fab. I'll have to let him know that I'll be happy to keep my warrant up and work as an at-large consultant if he'd like. My personal library of reference materials is fairly decent, and has some obscure stuff, especially in the German and Dutch areas. I frequently want to beat the local branch and Baronial Heralds. Especially when they teach classes on name and device submissions and get most of it wrong. *sigh*

Yeah, I'm holding off until Darling Richard reaches his goal weight. I MIGHT make him a tunic or something to bum around in after he armors down at events this summer. I will save the fancy Dutch silk/velveteen/brocade ensemble for when I know he's going to be able to wear it for a while without adjustments.

I just finished the name submission sheets for the kiddos. I was going to submit the devices but I can't draw, so I cannot be bothered at this time to mess with them.

I am going to make a handsewn linen arming coat for [livejournal.com profile] dyderich but I am not starting it until he gets to a weight he is going to maintain. I am only making it once!
