Just when you thought it was safe....

Or, we have committed the sin of having a little money in the bank.
Hence (to quote my husband) Fortuna vomits on us yet again. Actually, it's something of a mixed blessing - but the Chicago trip is cancelled. *sigh*
Why, you ask? Because the transmission in the van suffered a catastrophic failure today. We'd been meaning to replace it - and so we shall.
Dad, bless him, found us a late model lease turn-in, in our price range. It's a good deal. And so he and Mom will come out to get us (embarassing as THAT was to ask - but we can't get the carseat into the ranger. And we don't have temp tags on the big truck, yet. Hopefully it will all come together, and we'll have a new vehicle to come back home in.
The dealership can't give us squat for the F-150. However, no sooner had Darling gotten off the phone with Dad than someone called and wants to come look at it next week.
Next week will be busy. And stressful. I have a doctor's appt on Tuesday, as well as Anneliese's parent-teacher conference - hopefully all this nonsense won't affect my blood pressure. Darling has an interview on Wednesday (fingers crossed for luck, there!). And hopefully the truck will go ba-bye on Thursday.
One of my sales reps has a number of job leads for me. So I think I'll go with my gut and NOT do the working interview at the Clinic I'd been talking to. I suspect it's a bad fit. And I'm unwilling to give them an entire 16 hours of my time for no recompense when I don't want the job to begin with. Here's hoping that the good Lord will provide something else.
Nyeh. Off to bed.
