Recent progress on the learning curve:

Coffee Cup's free version of it HTML editor does NOT include the Visual Editor portion. *sigh*

HTML is horribly tedious. Especially when Coffee Cup is resisting importing templates.

Using CSS to create my own template will probably save me a lot of time an maintenance long term.

Learning CSS is going to be a royal pain in the keister. Luckily, I've forgotten most of the HTML I knew anyway - so it's a wash either way.


On another note, Alaina has raised the possibility of a mutual membership in a dairy co-op. Off to surf for milk pasteurizers.

Basically, I just bothered to take the time to use and to troubleshoot CSS (usually clean the scripts too... helps later on with maintenance) and then went to a few of the many sites that offer free templates... I looked at coffee cup a while back, did it at least have an HTML reference? That, at least, should be useful

I'm assuming I can put the banner and a left-side menu into the style sheet, but haven't yet worked out how. Do you do your external style sheet in an HTML editor? And if so, do you leave the tags at the top as a default? Or code the CSS and don't worry that the editor can't read the code?

your likely going to hate this answer... even though I looked at various html editors, I tend to stick with notepad as my only editor.

Have yo ugot a favorite on-line tutorial? I'd like to do a two-column layout with the left-hand column the menu.

none that I could make any good use of though some templates are quite customizable and the two-column, left hand menu fairly popular
yeah, I need to take more time someday and properly write one instead of just fiddling with them
