I promise, back to costuming stuff next week. I'll update on the new chemise, and maybe attempt the drop-front kirtle. And maunder more about petticoats and the bodice/jacket.

Fiberfest was much fun. Even if I was on a yarn diet this year. The haul:

One skein of Fleece Artist's Suriblue in Wildflower to knit Laminaria for Mom. I passed on the thrummed mitten kit, which I sort of regret. But maybe I'll make up my own.

One Blue Moon Funky Sock Monkey kit.

2 skeins of Socks That Rock mill end yarn in a champagne color for baby. I'm thinking of tring The Secret Garden sweater from my Alice Starmore book. I think this finer yarn and smaller needles will let me scale it down from a Sz 2-3 to maybe 9 or 12 months.

A baby hats and booties book.

The real torture fantasy came in my e-mail. I've been sporadically remembering to save the reward codes from Disney movies. I now lament all those that got thrown out here and at the folks' place:

Shoot me now.

I know. Astronomical points. But might have been doable. I'll keep saving them now, and movie stubs as well. Might get lucky or something.

John is also talking to the HR dept of the Co. he's trying to get a job with. So here's hoping.

Couldn't help it, I attempted the drop front kirtle and tested it at an event this summer... I feel I may have made the "bib" a little lower than I should have but was careful not to make it too high. It seemed to function well as a means to pull the hem of my gown up and away from the ground/grass and there is surely enough art to support the idea though it just rather came natural. Also, when left open, it pretty much looked like that image you showed... floppy, shapeless...

reading this post...
I envy those with the patience and skill to knit!
