Sales I do like:
Jul. 21st, 2010 02:47 pmCoupon Commotion at JoAnn's. Mostly because whatever I want doesn't go on sale often.
Today's purchase - glass head pins. Apparently I'm the last person on Earth who likes glass head pins. But I melt the other ones. I don't always remember to remove every pin before pressing seams. Besides, they're a necessity for lace shaping and other heirloom sewing. I suppose I could have a set of glass pins (cause, WOW, they're getting expensive!) for that, and plastic for other stuff. But I know me. The "just for heirloom sewing" pins would get dragged out whenever I couldn't find the plastic ones and that would be that.
I also discovered that there are hat pin blanks available in the jewelry supplies. Might need some for Big German Hats!!
And, of course, I had to peruse the books. They had a copy of Country Bumpkin's "A to Z of Bead Embroidery." And while I normally adore Country Bumpkin's A to Z books and snap them up if I have a coupon (I did), I wasn't so impressed with this one. Unlike the others, it is less techniques than patterns. I don't really need the patterns.
There was also a copy of The Dressmaker's Technique Bible, which I really DID like and put on my Amazon list.
I'm getting ready for things to get dead quiet locally as everybody here heads to Pennsic. I shall count on my friends who are NOT in the Eastern half of the North American Continent or otherwise not attending to keep me company. ;-)
Also skipping Simple Day this weekend. It looks like it will be Wicked Hot. I can tolerate wicked hot myself. But I cannot justify subjecting the girls to it if there won't be anything THEY will enjoy and there isn't another good reason. So we'll find something else to do this weekend. Preferably with A/C.
