Anybody want to share names/specialties/contacts for A&S folks who live within a reasonable distance of Chicago and might be willing to travel to RUM - regardless of their Kingdom of residence.

I want to expand my database of potential teachers, and I don't have a lot of contacts to the west of the MK.

May I repost to my LJ and Facebook? I've got a fair number of Calontiri, including ones a bit closer to Chicago than I am. I'd have them respond to me, and then send them your way.

By all means, boost the signal! And thank you!

I might be able to make RUM - I live in Cleveland. I have to check around and see if there's anyone to share the drive with :-) I had no idea you were so close! :-)

Lesse, I could teach Men's Burgundian Underwear c1445-75, Men's Burgundian Overgown also c1445-75. Women's headdresses in the Bayeux tapestry... probably also Hose in the Maciejowski Bible (13th century) or something on the van der Wyden style kirtle (c1440s Flanders) - but for either of those I'm not sure there's enough to fill a full hour... if you're interested in those I'll work on fleshing them out ;-)

P.S. Did I send the e-mail to your correct address? I used the one listed on your LJ user info page...Thank you again!

Yes, you did get the right address! I'm planning on forwarding on the translation today. :-D I spent last evening with a snuggly toddler in my lap and didn't get a lot done, but got lots of love.

Hmm, neat classes - let me see what is likely to mesh best with what else I have. And do let ME know if you can make it!

I actually live in Michigan, a couple hours up the Lake Michigan coast from Chicago.

Awww - sweet! :-) No worries - I just wanted to make sure that you actually checked it - publicly listed websites being prone to junk mail and all...

You've given me plenty of time to con someone into sharing the drive, so it's very likely I'll easily be able to make it :-)

That's still just a long-ish day's drive... somehow based on your website I'd assumed you were in Europe (probably just the subject matter - I am happy to be wrong!)

*g* I get that a lot. Probably because I refer to doing things in "Holland" regularly. And I'm talking about the city of Holland, MI.

BTW - some of us are contemplating trying to do some sort of Dutch/German themed event or get-together/Symposium at some point. Interested?

Once I get it done, I'd also like your opinion on my housebook dress, as I'm reading it as a transition between the burgundian gowns and the more fitted dresses that came later.

Yes! I dunno that I have anything to wear (unless a Flemish GFD counts)... but I'm interested!

I would love to see your housebook dress - it's a style I love! I've been looking at the English version of the Burgundian gown (a la Elizabeth Woodville) as a transition step between Burgundian and early Tudor styles. I'd love to compare that with the housebook styles - I hadn't realized before how close the lower Rhine area is to Burgundy and the Netherlands... it would make geographic sense.

Thank you for the translations!

Give me a few months, and I'll at least be able to expand your list in-kingdom. Llew wants me to conduct what is essentially a census of A&S activity within the Midrealm --- a database of who is doing what. We're still in the discussion stage of how to accomplish this (and I am still trying to figure out how we will keep it up to date, since people will add areas of interest all the time), but now that Pennsic is past, I should be getting to this project soon.
